One of the most common questions I hear is simple. “Are your photos edited?” Here is Why that Matters.

Now, let me tell you about a recent session in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach that proves exactly why editing matters. Beach Shutters shoots in RAW format for better editing.

We photographed a sweet family with a toddler named Margo. And let’s be real. Margo was not impressed with the camera. For instance, it was late in the day. Also, she was sleepy. Today, Margo was absolutely not in the mood to pose.

So, we adjusted. Quickly.

Mom and Dad jumped in to help. Then, I jumped in too. We made silly sounds. They played little games. I clapped. We cheered. Beach Shutters took LOTS of PHOTOS that the client will never see! And we followed her tiny feet as she took off running down the beach. Because this toddler loves her freedom.

As a result, we captured a few real smiles. The kind you can’t force. The kind you earn.

Still, chasing a toddler means the background isn’t always perfect. Sometimes there are buildings. Always, there are distractions. Every time, there are things you didn’t even notice in the moment. That’s where editing steps in.

So, yes, I removed a few buildings in the background. With hand edits, we also cleaned up a few distractions. Then, the background was enhanced with light and color so the images matched that dreamy beach feeling you came for.

We all got sandy, but it was so worth it!

Meanwhile, when Margo got upset, we didn’t stop. We simply shifted the plan. We captured a few sweet photos from behind. And honestly, it almost feels like a cheat. But the resulting photos are often even sweeter than a forced smile. It shows a connection. That is real life.
