Beach Photos with Babies
Beach photos with a baby in the family can feel a little intimidating. Parents often wonder whether the baby will sleep, cry, need to eat, or simply decide picture time isn’t happening. However, some of the sweetest family beach photos happen during those very early months.
Two-Month-Old and a Toddler
Tobie’s family recently joined us for a beach photography session with a two-month-old baby and a toddler. Naturally, we knew the little ones would set the pace. Fortunately, they both turned out to be wonderful little models!
When babies are this young, simple is usually best. We do not need a newborn to look directly at the camera or give us a big smile. Instead, tiny stretches, sleepy expressions, little fingers, and snuggles with Mom and Dad create beautiful memories. At only two months old, every expression is worth remembering.

Meanwhile, toddlers bring an entirely different kind of fun to family beach photography. They may want to explore the sand, run toward the water, or investigate everything around them. Rather than fighting that curiosity, we love to work with it. Movement often creates some of the most natural family photos.

For Tobie’s family, everything came together beautifully. The baby was content, and the toddler did an amazing job. Better yet, their different ages added so much personality to the session.
Of course, parents should never worry about a baby needing a quick break. Feeding, soothing, cuddling, or simply taking a moment is completely normal. In fact, slowing things down can sometimes lead to even sweeter photographs.

Beach sessions are especially wonderful for families with young children because there is room to move. In addition, the beautiful Gulf Coast gives us soft sand, open skies, and gorgeous natural light.

Most importantly, do not wait for the “perfect age” to schedule family pictures. Babies grow unbelievably fast. Toddlers change just as quickly. A few months from now, both may look completely different.
So, bring the baby. Bring the toddler. Bring bottles, snacks, favorite toys, and anything else that makes life with little ones easier.
