Beach Shutters Photography is one of coastal Alabama’s most popular family photographers. We specialize in beach portraits taken at sunset and sunrise on the beautiful beaches of Alabama!

Did you know Alabama has a coastline?

Some people are surprised that we not only have beaches in Alabama, but they are exquisite! White sand, lush sea oats, and even a large stretch of jetty rocks. This particular photo location that is pictured has all 3 (coastline, sea oats & rocks) plus a few bonus backgrounds. A sand trail and boardwalk add to Alabama Point East’s many scenic photo ops.

This location is so popular we only use it for sunrise.

In the morning, the beach is less crowded and easier to use the rocks as seats & backgrounds for family beach portraits. The actual sunrise is in the photo, also! That is the big bonus. At sunset, there are buildings to the west, blocking the sun. Early birds, you are in luck!

Meet Meaghan!

She and her boys are regular Beach Shutters clients. They visit at least once a year, and I get to take their photos! We laugh because her busy boys make the best models. They don’t necessarily enjoy taking pictures but love the beach. That is all we need right there!

A cute outfit and hats were this year’s theme.

Meaghan’s family always dresses so cute for beach portraits. Some years she brings props, like last year’s sailboat. Putting a little thought behind your session goes a long way! Her sons are young, so choosing sunrise instead of trying to keep them awake for sunset is also good thinking on her part.

Beach Shutters Photography may be one of two or three photographers at Alabama Point East in the morning. At sunset, it is a whole different story! A dozen or more photographers may be added to the groups of fishermen and sunset watchers during the afternoon hours.  For this reason, we say set your alarm clock and see at least one sunrise during your vacation. You will be happy you did!
