Sports Photography Spotlight: Summer the Cheerleader
There’s nothing quite like the energy of a game day—the drumline thumping, the crowd roaring, and a cheerleader launching into the air with pure joy. That’s Summer, doing what she loves, and we were thrilled to capture her spirit in motion for this sports photography feature by Beach Shutters Photography.
In her happy place, wearing the uniform proudly!
Sports Photography works with midday, bright light.
On the Gulf Coast, we’re blessed with bright blue skies that make color and movement pop. While golden hour is a favorite for many portraits, midday photos pop for sports and action shots, giving us crisp detail, bold uniforms, and sparkling eyes—even mid-tumble! The strong light lets us freeze motion, highlight team colors, and showcase clean, dynamic lines in every leap, toe touch, and stunt.
Don’t try this at home, lol!
Location is everything.
For Summer’s session, we leaned into that midday shine at our favorite sports backdrops. The stadium, where she has cheered and sparkled, and the sky framed every cheer with a vivid, uplifting blue. We focused on genuine moments—wind in her hair, confident smiles, and the split-second peak of a jump—because sports photography is about marking moments with photos that feel as alive as the athlete.
Hot & sweaty & loving cheer!
