Why Don’t We Get Every Photo Taken?
If you’ve ever looked at your Beach Shutters Photography gallery and thought, “Wait… I want them all, why don’t we get every photo that was taken during our session?” you are not alone. In fact, it’s one of the most common questions we hear from families booking photographers in Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, and Perdido Key.
So let’s talk about RAW format. And also, let’s be transparent.
First, we shoot in RAW format. That matters. RAW images are not “finished” photos. They are the digital negative. Therefore, they look drab, flat, and honestly… a little ugly. The colors are muted. The contrast is low. And the magic is not there yet. However, RAW gives us the most flexibility. It allows richer color, better skin tones, and cleaner edits. In other words, it’s how professional work becomes professional.

BEFORE. Yes, he is cute, but let’s doctor this shot to really bring out the boy, make the shoes and background distractions disappear!

WOW! Now we see the subject. The distractions are removed, the lighting and color has been adjusted and the background enhanced.
Click Click Click! How many photos does it take to make a beautiful gallery?
Next, we shoot each pose 3–5 times. Click click click. Why? Because we are protecting your memories. Someone blinks. A toddler looks away. Wind hits hair. Dad shifts. Focus changes. So, we capture multiple frames to make sure we get the best version of that moment. Then we compare those images side by side and choose the strongest one. After that, the extras get deleted. Not because we’re holding out. But because they’re duplicates.
And then the real work begins.
First, we cull the session. Next, we remove distractions. That can include people in the background, random signage, trash, and stray beach items. Then we crop and straighten for better composition. After that, we adjust exposure, color correction, and white balance. Lastly, we zoom in and polish the details.
How are we the only people on the beach? And why does my face look so clear!
That means fixing acne, rashes, and runny noses. Also, whitening teeth a touch. And yes, correcting sweat marks or stains on clothing. Sometimes, we smooth a shirt that rode up when Dad tossed the toddler. Sometimes, we lightly slim or adjust a flattering angle. Because you hired us for a reason.
Was the sky really that beautiful?
Finally, we enhance the scene itself. The sky. The water. The sand. The glow. Boom. A finished, artful image.
So, why don’t we get every photo taken by our photographer? Now you get it! The best of the best is yours.
Of course, some photographers batch edit and stop at basic color. However, Beach Shutters takes it further. That’s why edited photos are what we deliver. And that’s why hiring a professional photographer is different than receiving every single click.
